seeing through these eyes

our 12 year old, sam, told me he was thinking about something he knew i'd like but wasn't so sure about telling me. i said pleeeeeeeeease tell me & bribed him with a back scratch.
it worked & i wrote it alongside this drawing.
i made the hair on this illustration curly & full in honor of him...but i still can't help but draw figures mostly in the female form!
love to all you see & hear & are. xo

Yes, I like that! Not taking things for granted, loving the eyes and appreciating them, not only seeing with them, but "seeing" through them!!! What a fellow! Give him another hug!!

So beautiful, and right to the heart. How do you do it dear one!? This one is so special coming from your boy. I am always amazed at the insights that I gather from my children, and how the bring me right back out of my mind and into my body in the simplest of ways. Thank you so much for your encouraging words about our move over on my blog! xoFaith

What a bright son you have!! Ahhh the wonders of youth!! I can remember thinking those same things!! I want to think those things again...instead i think about mundane things!! Thank him for filling us in again on what it was like back then :D

P.S.. concerning your drawing girls....it's cuz female forms are so much prettier :D

Beautiful statement and moment between you and your son. I think this should be part of a series on the senses.
*listening through these ears
*smelling through this nose
*feeling through these hands
*tasting through this mouth/these buds (taste buds!)
Maybe this concept/idea will evolve in its own way?

As always, thank you for sharing your perspective, Rachel.

Back scratches....such
sweet moments.
Today I became more alive
and saw more through these
eyes because of his
sage words.
What a wise and wonderful
heart.
But then,
he IS your boy:)
Love and warm hugs,
Jennifer

Oh Sam, Sam, Sam - what does the Lord have in mind for you? Keep seeing and thinking and wondering and following - and we'll be watching. And Rachel - I'd love to see your drawings of the beautiful "other" gender. This was precious!

What an amazing boy....to be so in touch with the blessing of SEEing...so many people take that for granted...and even more, the awareness of one so young...beautiful.

Sam is becoming a big part of your art and that is a really good thing :)♥

Oh! Goosebumps! Can't believe you pulled that out of him! No, wait, of course I can!!! Yesterday, my guy was so sad and I finally got him to reveal his thoughts: "I'm sad because I think some things are missing from life and I don't know what they are." I think my heart collapsed when he said it!
