listening to you

i pause + i weave my way into listening.

I weave a silence into my mind
I weave a silence within my heart ... “

I am a self taught mixed media artist and creativity has always been a vital part of my life. My primary focus has been the creation of hand bound journals which I sell on Etsy but I also love to work and create with paint as well as collage and fabric. I love to experiment and draw my inspiration from many sources. Nothing is off limits when it comes to my creative flow. My work has been featured in several books and publications. I’ve used and applied my artistic skills for the creation of stage props and sets for a local dance studio and offers me yet another outlet to keep my creative juices flowing. I live in Coon Rapids Minnesota with my very talented wood worker husband, 2 daughters and my office assistant and constant 4 legged companion pooch; Fibi.

what a rich, treasure-strewn
path, this!
scooping up bits of glory
until my heart is so full
I grin as it spills over
and still somehow the
pieces all stay and fit.
nourished and grateful,
Jennifer

What a beautiufl post. I loved both styles of art and appreciate you sharing them. It particularly moved me when I read the question about what animal is facing towards you and really presenting themselves to us, listening. I had never thought of my cats doing this in this way before and it really moved me. I can sometimes feel too busy and feel aware of them at my feet facing me, but don't acknowledge them. What a missed opportunity to connect, se, be seen and be heard...

i visited Megahn’s blog, how inspiring and beautiful!
(could i say my invisible friend is facing me, because really i am alone in my studio - so all i can think of is to make-up something…???)
And Susie's art is gorgeous, i took a peek at her blog too, oh that pretty bird..
thanks for sharing Rachel xo

You know what I wish, Rachel? I wish you would give me a specific assignment about listening. I just know I could come up with something great, if only I had the homework. It must be the teacher in me.
